Trending AR Experience

Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO is a very famous popular trend that happens around 9 Years ago on 2016, due to the use of AR Technology it quickly gains popularity and everyone started going out of their homes in search of pokemons and catching them. This is a very new concept that has never been explored before in gaming at this time, the use of a GPS and a interactive AR Experience.

I was 11 years old when i first started playing Pokemon GO following the trend and learn that interactive experience cool and it was a whole new thing for me, i was amazed by the game and felt inspired to make something like this in the future. Even right now, i found a lot of things in the game still interesting like how it still integrates fully with the AR Experience, A lot of unique pokemons that we can discover and finally, the pokeball throwing.


Reflection

Week 1

In week 1, we were introduced to Experiential design by Mr. Razif. He showed us what is AR and examples project made by past students. When he showed past project i feel amazed on what AR can do and the possibilities of stuff i can do with it.

For an AR Demonstration in class he asked us to search any animal in try to see the 3d model by the button on google, because of my android phone i have no problem viewing it, it is cool to see something that i never used before and pay less attention too.

Week 2

In week 2, We were shown in more detail what is Experiential Design and its similarities and difference with XD, Experience design is not driven by single design discipline, but instead it requires a cross discipline perspective that considers multiple aspects such as brand, business, environment, experience from product, packaging, and retail environment to everything. Experience design is about the experience of  a product, service or event.

Next we were tasked to make a journey map of an experience and me and my group decided to make an experience of Comic Fiesta, the largest anime convention in Malaysia.

Week 3

In week 3, we were shown by Mr. Razif different types of Experiential Design such as Augmented Reality(AR), Mixed Reality(MR), and Virtual Reality(VR) we were shown some examples to understand more in depth detail of them.

Then we have a session where we need to make another presentation about how we can use AR in a few scenario given, my table has choosen the gym, we made a presentation and example of the AR Experience

Finally, We were taught about how to use unity with Vuforia to try set a marker based AR, since i have prior experience in unity, i felt it was pretty easy to do

Week 4

Week 4 is a public holiday, but we were given a video to try enable and disable the AR by the use of a button.
